JAPANESE LANGUAGE ENDOWMENT
The Japanese Language Endowment was established to support student learning in the Japanese language program. Funds from this endowment may be used to assist students who are actively engaged in Japanese language study, helping to enrich their educational experience and promote continued progress in language proficiency.
Details about specific awards or opportunities may vary based on available funding. Please contact the department for more information.
PARKINSON SCHOLARSHIP
The Parkinson Scholarship supports students in the Asian & Near Eastern Languages Department who are pursuing advanced levels of proficiency in Arabic through intensive study abroad. This scholarship honors Dilworth and Laura Beth Parkinson, who shouldered the burden of shepherding BYU’s semester-long overseas study abroad program every year from 2009 to 2016.
Applications are accepted year-round. Funds are awarded to students dedicated to deepening their Arabic language skills and who demonstrate significant financial need that would otherwise limit study abroad participation.
SUN SCHOLARSHIP
The Sun Scholarship is an annual award available each spring to students who speak Chinese, including Mandarin, Cantonese, or any other Chinese dialect. This scholarship was generously established through an endowment by Newman Sun and Raphael C. Sun to support students with Chinese language skills in their academic pursuits.
Applications are typically accepted from January 1 to March 31 each year. Awards are given in varying amounts based on demonstrated financial need and available funding.
